In the kitchen,
Curses sizzle on the frying pan...
...She has to cook again.
Her anger spills all over the counter,
The vehemence shattering plates and glasses.
She sweeps her resentment into the trash,
Paying for this hardware
Again,
With scrubs,
Steam,
And scalding,
While the faucet spits
Rust on her hands,
Eating through her fingers
To make them weep towards the drain.
She gathers these tears
To buy one new dress
Below the basement sale,
She she can go out with the girls.
He gallops over long-distance,
Cloaked in a cashmere promise.
She grips his reins
With ripped nails,
Stripping off her apron to run.
